Expecting Dieselpunk Stewardess? I think we can include this in the Dieselpunk circle of style, sans the stewardess.
I did promise to do a lot more style and makeup with glasses this year, so it’s really awesome to being able to work with ProOpticals. I get to be the frames guinea pig and Girls with Glasses crusader in one go!
I wasn’t expecting to get these cool Aidan frames from Proopticals.com this early due to Chinese New Year. A lot of postal services in Asia close during this period. Hooray for happy surprises.

I know a lot of other girls like myself, NEED to wear glasses everyday for vision. Sometimes it’s hard to really get motivated to do complicated or heavy eye makeup when it’s either being covered by frames.

As I mentioned, last Saturday I attended the Jane Austen Evening at the Pasadena Masonic Theatre.
This event is put on every year by the Society of Manners & Merriment.

I spent about 2 days feverishly working on my outfit for the Jane Austen Evening ball. I’m so glad that everything turned out all right too.
And more and more pictures….

Tada! My newly acheived Aurora Borealis hair.

Gorgeous celestial remnants, I have achieved you within my hair!
I know that ‘Galaxy’ and ‘Nebula’ imagery has become popular in the last year or two, I can’t deny I’m all over that like white on rice too.
I’ve always wanted to see the Aurora sky, as well as go into space. I blame my inner Star Trek child.

I was watching this 8 episode series about ‘How the Universe was made’ last week, and learned that all of the materials that created life on Earth can be found in stars. This excited me greatly, for now I can say that it is not simply a desire to go to space… but a desire to return to the stars.
My friend Cate recently went to Iceland and saw these in person. I’m quite envious.
I’ve been trying to achieve this sort of hair for a while, but it never turned out just right until now. I’d love to get some neon yellow in there, but we’ll see.

Some of you may have seen my late night facebook updates! I’ve got 1 day to go and so much to do! I’ve been sewing non-stop, and I’ve still got to work on my hair and accessories.
Alcuin and I, along with a few of our equally Jane Austen enthusiastic friends, are attenting janeaustenevening.org in Pasadena on Saturday. We’ve got tickets to the tea and the ball!
I’m really excited about making my own regency-esque outfit for the ball.
I took some inspiration from this Alexander McQueen gown, attempting to go for a McQueen x Marahaja inspired regency dress. I hope I can finish it in time.

I’m going a bit insane over here trying to finish. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

It’s my 2nd time making a dress from scratch! The first being my Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary VIP dress!
I finished the bodice and gown this morning. I ran into a few design mistakes already! However I’ve come up with a backup plan.

I have lots to do! I have to finish the dress, put on the trim, finish my shoes, do my extensions… OH LORDY!
Wish me luck!
I’m really excited to go to this ball. I’m really sad I didn’t have any time to learn the dances, but I hope I can take amazing pictures for everyone.
What are your plans for the weekend?
