Arsenic in my Diesel
by Yume | January 26th, 2012

Expecting Dieselpunk Stewardess? I think we can include this in the Dieselpunk circle of style, sans the stewardess.
I did promise to do a lot more style and makeup with glasses this year, so it’s really awesome to being able to work with ProOpticals. I get to be the frames guinea pig and Girls with Glasses crusader in one go!
I wasn’t expecting to get these cool Aidan frames from Proopticals.com this early due to Chinese New Year. A lot of postal services in Asia close during this period. Hooray for happy surprises.

I know a lot of other girls like myself, NEED to wear glasses everyday for vision. Sometimes it’s hard to really get motivated to do complicated or heavy eye makeup when it’s either being covered by frames.

These frames were a good in-between for me. They feel a lot sturdier than completely rimless frames, but also open the doors for eye makeup.
Heart shaped faces like mine don’t often pull off narrow frames. Since my face is widest at the cheeks, narrow frames and lenses make my head look bloated!
These lenses don’t have a bottom frame, so it really balanced out my face.

I also managed to get myself two A is for Arsenic tanks from the recent Taxidermia line. For myself, I got the black Vanitas tank, and for Alcuin, the white Menagerie tank.
That is one of the perks of working for this amazing brand, wearing it proudly around L.A. before anybody else!
The downside? Trying not to spend my entire paycheck on Amelia’s work. I just want everything!

Back to the style.
The whole Dieselpunk Stewardess style guide sort of snowballed into a population of styles for me rooted in the Diselpunk world.
I started to think about what other sorts of people would be present in this sort of society, not just soldiers, but entertainers, servers, and everyday people!

It’s easy to go straight to military when you think of Dieselpunk, but world building is what makes the style plausible.. don’t you think?
There would still be military elements present in the society: aviation hats, ammo pouch belts, leather, combats, etc.

So I toyed with the idea of being a Dieselpunk street urchin. This is what I came up with.

What other people of this futuristically archaic world would you guys find interesting? Let me know, I’ll see if I can put my vision to it.
