Preview Night, IMATS Los Angeles 2012
Woa! Nearly a month has gone by since IMATS 2012!
I hate to say it, but it’s because I’ve been so busy that I’ve been a bit behind on blogging. I’m skipping right through May to bring you a photo heavy recap of IMATS!
Preview night or members night, is easily the most relaxing night of IMATS. A few people have asked HOW they can get into preview night, and I don’t have a solid answer. Some bloggers and press were able to get in, and some were not able.
The only “rule” I could dig up is that one has to be a subscribing member of the organization that owns IMATS (Makeup Magazine?).

This year I feel like we brought so much product compared to our first year, but we still managed to sell out of a lot of items. The lashes were gone in a flash, and Paperdoll was exceptionally popular too!
We even got a double booth this year.

I like that preview night is really relaxed. It gives all of the staff a moment of calm before the storm.
IMATS is really fun, but a big huge Hokusai-esque wave of fun. If you don’t give yourself a moment you might forget to breathe later.
I also made a valiant effort to take everyone’s outfit shots during the weekend!

Chubby Bunny in her usual Bunny-themed outfits.

Amy wore this hot little purple number. Every time I see Amy, I ask if she’s done something new to her hair, she says no, but I think she’s adding more color and and I’m just easily fooled.

Mynxi looked uber cute in this blue lace dress. I wish I could pull it of as well as she does!

And me! I look a bit like I’m falling in this photo!
For those wondering, my shoes are actually JC replicas from OASAP.COM. They’re pretty close!
Everything else I made or reconstructed. I’m also wearing a cute cat ring from Locketship.com and my leopard necklace from my sponsor at PrettyMinty.com
I like my makeup this evening, I did a really quick job because we had to set up and get ready. For those wondering my eye brows are Poison Plum, and the eye shadow I’m wearing is: Dollipop, 2AM, Mochi, and Acidberry.

Close up of my makeup! You can also see close up of my leopart heart necklace that I got from PrettyMinty.com as well as the bow earrings!

Since preview night is a lot more relaxed, we were able to walk around and check out other favourite booths! Obviously one of my favourites is LIT COSMETICS. You may have seen me rocking all of their luscious glitter on my eyebrows.
By chance, we also ran into Kabuki at the Lit Cosmetics booth! Not familiar with the name?
You’re more than 100% familiar with his work. Trust me.

We also ran into other friends like Maria of Locketship, and I saw my epic faerie friend Joellen of Firefly-Path.net, as well as a few bloggers that I didn’t get a chance to take pictures with.

After preview night, we were hungry as hell.
All of us really just wanted something fast. Kevin and Amelia found Dog Haus right up the street.

Their burgers use Hawaiian bread! Yum! I totally couldn’t finish it though. I ate only half of it and went home with my free beer cozy.

A few of the staff got ambitious and ordered tater tots, fries, and hot dogs. I couldn’t eat it all though it looked tasty! The portions were too massive.
Day 1: SATURDAY

Amy and I took a quick moment in the stock room to snap a photo. By the time the floor opened at 8:30am, we already had a pretty long line.
The amazing amazing staff at IMATS really helped us out this year. They put out stanchions and rope, it really helped organize our line.

Saturday was a blur to be honest. We all gave our 200% into working and by the time we looked up, it was already time to close shop!
There were some small pockets of down time where I was able to grab group shots. I did again manage to grab some outfit shots of nearly everyone.

I love Trista’s Bambi romper and her shoes.
I used to think I was obsessed with cute shoes, but Trista wins. She has such cute style.

Miss Amelia Arsenic and Petrilude were rocking the cute goth aesthetic. Love it!

Then it was back to the grind. It looks like chaos, but it was pretty organized. We had loads of people ask us about the new palettes and colors that we previewed.

You can see our upcoming neon pigments, as well as our Sparkle Baby palette, and our Cold Chemistry collaboration palette with Amelia Arsenic. We don’t have final release dates yet, but keep an eye out at Sugarpill.net as well as the facebook page.

I’m so in love with the promo images from Amelia’s palette. I’ve been waiting forever and ever for us to get this out! It’s our gorgeous goth palette.

I also ran into a bunch of people on my lunch break! Pursebuzz was one of those people. Doesn’t she look adorable in her rainbow suspenders?
I was wearing a re-coordinated version of my Space Invader Barbie outfit. I made everything except for my shrug, that I got from Lipservice’s sample sale.

Adorable Lily Belle was also there.

I also ran into luscious Jazzybabiecakes! I love the color of her dress.

It’s always hard to talk to all of my friends at IMATS because of the crazy lines and work schedule, but we always have fun.

We love each other, really!!

I’m so glad to have all of these wonderful people in my life.
After the long work day was over, we were lucky enought to be invited to Beautylish’s afterparty! After toning down a bit in the hotel room, we headed over.

Someone said my hair looked like a giant pastel squid eating my head. I agree, I do look like I’m being eaten by my hair.

After the Beautylish party, we hopped on yelp and found a cute little vegan Thai place that was a bit of a walk away. It was worth it though! They had the most amazing vegan Thai food I’ve ever had. It was also a BYOB restaurant.

With all of our energy spent, we went back to the hotel after dinner and hit the sheets. Luckily Day 2 of IMATS started at 10AM instead of 8:30AM!
Day 2: SUNDAY

Of course, Trista was looking smashing in her kitten print dress. I’m only sad my camera focus was a bit off so you can’t see the details.

Amelia Arsenic was rocking her Londoner pride with her Union Jack scarf and eye makeup. I love this look.
Amelia Nightmare was also on hand to do a lot (and I mean A LOT) of our hair. The girl is so talented. She did my hair, Chubby Bunny, and Amelia Arsenic’s hair I believe.

I thought that Sunday would be slower than Saturday, but it was equally busy. Since Michelle and I were double-cashiering, I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of our customers. A lot of our customers did post their photos to instagram though, so you may have seen them.

I did have more down time at the end of the day though, so when I ran into Sokolum, I made sure to get a picture! I had seen her on Saturday as well, but since I was buried in transactions I didn’t get to say hi.
I didn’t get a chance to take a proper photo with Mai (Portrait of Mai), Anna (Fenua Beaute), or Suzy though, so that was a bummer.

Leesha came by to say ‘Hi’ too! Doesn’t she look amazing with her short dark hair? I’m totally loving this look on her. It’s tres chic.

And as the day wound down, we managed to convince my boyfriend to take our outfit shots. Boys are so useful.
People have been asking me where I got my bodysuit, the answer is I made it! I made it the night before and the Mickey-gram design is based off Amelia’s wonderful design for the upcoming USA A is for Arsenic line.

It took nearly forever to break down and pack up! Once that was done, we were all so beat we barely managed to walk over to the Yard House for dinner. Thankfully there are somany eateries near Pasadena Convention Center.
Hope you enjoyed this picture recap of my IMATS 2012 adventures. Hope to see you all in January 2013 for IMATS again, the Los Angeles dates were switched with the London IMATS dates so now we’re only several months away!
Peace!

Was that Bambi Romper custom made? Or where can I buy it???
Guh! Everyone looks amazing!
You look gorgeous as always!!! You, Shrinkle, Chubby Bunny, Amelia Arsenic, all my fashion icons!
You looked so unbelievably beautiful that day, I couldn’t stop staring at you and behaving like a creep. If I had looked good that day myself, I would’ve offered to take pics, but seriously – everybody outshone me by YEARS, I was even too lazy to put proper make-up on hahahaha
Awesome post! I’m glad that we finally got to say hi to each other, the Sugarpill booth was INSANE!
