DIY: Tattoo Tights

by Yume Ninja-Sovereign | September 13th, 2012

Lately I’ve been completely obsessed with the tattoo tights trend. I even purchased about 5 different tattoo tights earlier this month.

Then my friend Mandee posted this article from Kotaku.com which featured a girl named Arimo who made her own anime character tights!

In Japan they are known as “ita” tights, as the word ITA (meaning pain) has become associated with nerdy/otaku culture.

Inspired by this post, I went about making my own. Some of you have already seen pictures on my instagram.

I made a speed tutorial video for all of you, detailing exactly how I went about doing it!

Simple right?

These were simply my test pair but they turned out really well. Now I’m working on another bigger pair for Comikaze this weekend! Geeky adventures ho!

Like this tutorial? Trying it on your own? I want to see the results! Leave a comment either here or on my youtube channel, or better yet: post a response video!

  1. I seriously am so jealous of everyone who went to Comikaze. It was half sponsored by one of the websites I write for (ifanboy.com), and my entire Steampunk DC cosplay group was there! (Sans Wonder Woman… aka me…)

I am going to have to make myself some of these tights. Yayyyy.

These would make the perfect gift for my friend’s birthday! Do you think shinhan touch markers are suitable for this project?

I’m not sure if those are waterresistant or not. That’s a key factor if you don’t want them to completely bleed/wash off. You would need to find out from shinhan if they are water resistant or archival ink like copics and blick ones.
