I’ve had a few dozen emails and requests regarding my platform sneakers that I diy’d for Sweet Streets.
However, I won’t be doing a tutorial for my shoes as I learned this method from a friend, and so it’s not my secret to give away! Sorry guys, but I can’t take credit for it.
Another friend of mine, Selina of SZMoon.NET, recently made her own inspired by those Platform Converse that everyone’s been buying off eBay! Selina is an awesome diy-super star as well so check her out!

My friend Kerli, is perhaps the most notable of all diy platform sneaker makers. She’s a master at shoe diy and you guys should totally check her out if you’re unfamiliar.
As for me, I added the duct tape as an afterthought. I didn’t want my shoes to fall apart, plus the neon color was just what I needed for Sweet Streets.

I learned a lot from making this first pair, so for my second pair I’m enlisting the help of my friend Joe, who is known for making crazy steampunk costumes, shoes, and props! We’re going to make these Jeremy Scott x 2NE1 winged Adidas rock.

I don’t know if I’ll do the full 6inches or even go above and beyond that. You’ll all have to wait and see!
More diy platforms or shoes? You can always browse the internet for inspiration.

Welcome to the simplest and most affordable D.i.Y Galaxy Shoes!

Yes, you’ve seen them everywhere! My own inspiration came from Jeffrey Campbell’s Lita’s and Kustom Kix’ Nebula Wedges (hand painted, I might add).

What You’ll Need?
- Shoes/Wedges of choice
- Mod Podge with clear gloss finish (or whatever finish you like)
- A variety of cheap brushes
- Two 11×17″ (approx) color print outs of a Galaxy/Nebula (I found mine on some wallpaper site)
- A large piece of paper (mine is 18×24″ drawing paper)
- Clear/Invisible Tape
- Exact-o Knife/Scissors
- Marker

I’ve often received requests regarding my hair at it’s various stages and colors. More recently people have asked me to do a tutorial about how I went rainbow, so here you guys go!
Excuse my FOBs. I mix a diluted Punky Violet with a bit of MP Hot Hot pink to get my shade of purple! I forgot to add that!

I tend to wind up my hair into little balls and then clip!

Being patient when washing out is a key factor in avoiding bleed. There will always be some minimal bleed, which is good for the rainbow! However, always make sure not to place a dark section (washed or not) over a light section.

My favourite hair treatment is Shiseido Tsubaki Damage Care. That stuff has saved my hair 100x over.
I’ve also used Dumb Blonde and just a regular old protein filler mixed into my shampoo. Using a treatment is my ‘must’.
If you have to bleach a certain amount to even be able to put in color, your hair is definitely fried! Trust me when I say, you can use the help.
Well I hope that visual helped those of you who asked.
Pew! And this was my hair last week on my birthday!
I also don’t make any claims to being a professional colorist or beautician! I just want to throw that disclaimer in there!
I have been doing my own hair, as well as friends, and currently am my boyfriends acting hair stylist/colorist, but all of this has been learned through 14+ years of experience and help from my friends who are professionals! I make no guarantees, so please use this information responsibly.

Attending Sweet Streets & Giant Robot’s “Real Japanese Kawaii” opening gave me the perfect chance to do a little diy. I have meant to cross this off my list for a while now.
Some time ago, I saw this gorgeous thing on Tumblr:

Since credit has been lost on tumblr, please tell me if you know. I’d like to credit the original person properly.
Both Alcuin and I have been itching to try a dip-dye and ombre dying. I mostly envisioned black, rainbow usually reminds me of Nor-Cal hippies of my youth. However, these shorts changed that association forever.
Goodwill hunting gave me these glittered denim shorts ($3USD). I intended to get white, but none were available. These were light blue and glittered.

Onward, to the first trials of dip dying!
